Family Ring
I wanted to craft a ring with the "H" initial for my family name. Unlike most signet rings, though I wanted to create something more informal and playful, it isn't meant to look like an initial upon first glance. For my early concepts, this quickly led to me playing around with the idea of shapes forming the letter "H." Initially starting with columns, it shfitted into the direction of a mix of filagry and western elements. The band is something often left as a background element on rings. So by playing around with the overall form and detail, I was able to create a full form. Lastly, to give the ring a worn look, it was bathed in sulphur (or boiled eggs) and then polished, leaving the imperfections to be showcased.
